Divorce

[Trigger warning for horror/gore.]

The magician's wife
Wore black tights and a green scarf
Or was it green tights and a black scarf?
Her skin was pale against the
Black box as the knife fell through
And he saw what he had done,
Turning green as the black
Day dawned red against all others:
Two halves
And now she lay asunder.

[Undated poem by Virginia McKinnon Mann.]
